A Dark Cinematic Tool
Doomstrophic for Padshop 2 by Online Music Foundry combines orchestral strings, brass and percussion, DIY percussive and stringed instruments, and re-synthesized sounds for dark expressive, cinematic scores and apocalyptic sound design. With 725 presets created by Online Music Foundry’s Marco Giardina and Gary Gibbons, you can create trailer tension-builders, dark and diverse mood-setters for thrillers, horror or epic action that include powerful arpeggiated cinematic percussion patterns in many time signatures and tempo scales.

Marco Giardina’s DIY stringed instrument
Q. How did you make your DIY instrument?
A. I used two pieces of wood, a spring, a tin box and cello strings fixed with nails. Then I added contact microphones connected to a jack for direct amplification. With the good sound transmission properties from the cello strings that are connected to the wood and percussive sounds from the tin box and metal spring, the contact microphones captured some unique noisy textures to manipulate in Padshop 2.

Q. What did you sample for Doomstrophic?
A. I used many samples from orchestral strings, brass and percussion, as well as re-synthesizing those sound sources with Padshop 2.
